Chrysler Museum Wedding Photography | Rachel & Matt

Rachel and Matt held their wedding at The Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, VA on November 7th, 2009. Wedding photography at the Chrysler Museum is always a pleasure, there’s just so much to work with visually and God knows I’m a visual kind of guy. Mia Byrd and her staff had everything taken care of perfectly at the Chrysler museum. Pearl Taylor was the event coordinator and did an awesome job as usual. Music for the reception was provided by my favorite local band Butter (I was concerned about how a rocking band like Butter was going to sound at the Chrysler Museum but their sound man nailed it, they sounded awesome)

It was a beautiful wedding and an awesome reception. One of those days when I pinch myself and say “this is just a great day to be a wedding photographer”. Awesome couple, up for anything, with super families and friends.

Virginia Beach Photographer Bill Murray Featured in Hampton Roads Bride Magazine

This is one of the many fun parts of being a professional photographer. Seeing my work in Hampton Roads Bride Magazine again! I had a wedding featured in the fall / winter edition of the magazine, and now I’ve been blessed to have another wedding featured in the spring / summer edition.

This was the wedding of Gabrielle & Rey which took place at the Contemporary Arts Center of Virginia on October 4th, 2009.

I still have a few weddings to blog from the 2009 season! 2010 bookings are smoking! It’s going to be another VERY busy year. I just shot the first wedding of my 2010 season this past Sunday 17 Jan 2010. It was AWESOME! (shot them like rock stars!)

Lesner Inn Wedding - Virginia Beach Wedding Photography - Kerry & Casey

Kerry & Casey had their Lesner Inn Wedding on October 24th, 2009 in Virginia Beach. The Lesner Inn sits at the East side of the Lesner Bridge at the intersection of the Lynnhaven River and Chesapeake Bay. It’s just a gorgeous venue. I was really pleased to be doing the wedding photography for Kerry & Casey. Just a down to earth, great couple.

The wedding ceremony was scheduled right at sunset and they wanted beach pictures. So, to make that happen, I suggested we meet a couple hours before the ceremony down at the narrows in First Landing State Park since it was EXTREMELY windy with a threat of that kind of rain that falls sideways. I was able to photograph all the bride and groom shots, wedding party shots, and goofy shots well before the ceremony, and got to orchestrate a reality show flavored first look with Kerry and Casey. (that was fun!)

Awesome wedding with a REALLY FUN group of family and friends from New York made this a real barn burner.

Princess Anne Country Club Wedding Photography - Lindsey & Ricky

I did the wedding photography for Lindsey & Ricky, who got married on October 17th, 2009. Their wedding ceremony was held at Community United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach and their wedding reception took place at Princess Anne Country Club . It was just an great honor to be Lindsey and Ricky’s wedding photographer. They also did an engagement and bridal portrait session.

The ceremony and reception were both awesome! Just a great couple with marvelous families and TONS of ready to celebrate friends.

Cavalier Hotel Wedding Photography | Jessica & Matt

I absolutely LOVE doing wedding photography at the Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach. Not only is it an amazing old Historical Hotel, it’s only a 5 minute walk from our house! I have been all over, on top of, inside, outside, under and through that wonderful old hotel MANY times and I know it like the back of my own hand. It’s just such an interesting place that for a photographer like me, it just fills my creative cup to the brim and allows me to really stretch. It’s also right on the beach, and I am definitely a beach photographer. So, it’s a pleasure every time I get booked to shoot a wedding there.

Jessica and Matt got married on October 11th, 2009! Their wedding ceremony was at Holy Family Catholic Church on Great Neck Road in Virginia Beach (Jessica’s Mother is the wedding coordinator at Holy Family Church). They held their wedding reception at the Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach on Atlantic Ave.

This was one truly amazing bride that wanted A LOT of photographs, and LOVED to BE photographed. They set aside ample time for me to really create a body of work for them that they’ll have for the rest of their lives. There are many photos in this article, there was no way to adequately make a snippet of this wedding without hitting all the salient parts of this wedding. Even posting as many photos as I’m doing here, I’m still leaving quite a bit of the PJ work out and just concentrating on the couple primarily and the “normal” parts of a wedding people might think of.

Westin Hotel Wedding Photography | Angela & Jon

Angela and Jon got married October 10th, 2009! Their wedding ceremony was held at Eastern Shore Chapel on Laskin Rd in Virginia Beach and their wedding reception was held at the Westin Virginia Beach Town Center Hotel . I was REALLY excited about doing my first gig of wedding photography at the Westin Hotel. I’d been through it a few times and looked forward to getting turned loose in there with a FANTASTIC couple along with a couple hundred enthusiastic wedding guests.

I was NOT disappointed. What a flat out ROCKING wedding it was. Malissa from CMT Event Planning was a dream to work with. She made my job as a wedding photographer so much easier simply by taking all the worry and bother off the bride and groom. With Malissa’s expert guidance, Angela and Jon were able to relax and enjoy their wedding, which is certainly reflected in the results from their wedding photography. The music at the reception was provided by Butter . WOW! What a treat! My favorite local band at a wedding? Yes. I have the photos to prove it. They were awesome.

Angela and Jon were a referral from Lisa and Kevin (I did their wedding photography in April of this year).

It was an honor and a blessing to document this wild and wonderful wedding. It was difficult to choose a cross section of images to really do it justice, but I gave it a shot.

Norfolk Botanical Gardens Wedding Photography | Heather & Eliot

I have done A LOT of wedding photography at Norfolk Botanical Gardens and am grateful to be one of their preferred professional photographers. Heather and Eliot got married in The Butterfly Garden and had their wedding reception in Rose Garden Hall at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens . Their wedding took place on October 9th, 2009.

It was a beautiful early Fall day and their wedding ceremony took place as the sun was hanging low in the sky near sunset. We really had to hustle to get some nice shots of all the family members, bridal party, and finally the bride and groom before it got REALLY dark.

Norfolk Botanical Gardens is an absolutely lovely place to have a wedding.

Contemporary Arts Center Virginia | Wedding Photography | Gabrielle & Rey

I love doing wedding photography at the Contemporary Arts Center of Virginia. Usually, I do the wedding ceremony photos in Rodriguez Pavilion, then I do the reception photos in the Contemporary Arts Center Atrium. But, this was a different setup, with both the Ceremony and the Reception in Rodriguez Pavilion.

It was definitely a pleasure to the wedding photography for Gabrielle and Rey. I had met Gabrielle when I ran the Marine Corps Marathon in 2007 and she was working for Team In Training. I knew this was going to be a fun one.

Gabrielle and Rey also did a Trash The Dress / Tux session before the wedding earlier in the summer. (I’ll blog the portrait sessions later).

Just a beautiful wedding, great reception, then we went down to the beach after for a few more shots.

I like this last shot above at the Oceanfront Hilton. That’s about as close to the wedding night as I want to get with a camera. The elevator!

Portsmouth Renaissance Wedding Photography | Stephanie & Jerry

I had the pleasure of doing the wedding photography for Stephanie and Jerry at the beautiful Portsmouth Renaissance Hotel on October 3rd, 2009. The wedding ceremony was at Norfolk Botanical Gardens in Renaissance Court. So, it was Renaissance kind of day!

It was a GORGEOUS wedding! Stephanie and Jerry had an exceptionally large wedding party, and quite a few in their respective families attending. This would have been quite the crazy day for me, but Stephanie was a very proactive bride. She hired a REALLY AWESOME coordinator to help out. Style Events was exceptional in helping to make my life as the wedding photographer smooth as silk (and it was greatly appreciated). Jeremy from Blue Steel Lighting Design made the reception ballroom dance with tasteful colors at the Portsmouth Renaissance Hotel.

Lesner Inn Wedding Photography | Melissa & Brian

I had the distinct pleasure of providing the wedding photography for Melissa and Brian at the Lesner Inn on Shore Drive in Virginia Beach on September 20th, 2009.

I became really good friends with Melissa and Brian over the time span between their booking and their wedding. We did two different “out of the box” engagement shoots. One at Harbor Park with an obvious baseball theme (Brian is a Red Sox fan, and Melissa is a Baltimore fan), then a Trash The Couple photo session at sunrise in the ocean. Both came out fantastic and I’ll be blogging all the portrait sessions from this past season once I finish blogging all the weddings.

The Lesner Inn is a beautiful place to have a wedding ceremony and reception. It’s not lacking any elements that a wedding needs to be everything it can be. Melissa and Brian’s family and friends came out with enthusiasm and DJ Scotty rocked a GREAT reception with some awesome sets of dance music.
