Senior Portrait Photography of Dylan

As you can tell, I am still being a slacker about updating all the events I have to post up here, but life gets in the way sometimes of doing fun stuff like this. Getting the wedding books out, shooting events, and post production of the shoots takes up alot of my time. Then there’s the running thing. With around 5-6 weeks to go till the Marine Corps Marathon, the training isn’t easy or quick anymore. There’s just no way for a mortal like me to run 20 miles FAST. World class runners do their 20 mile runs at around a 5 minute mile pace. I do mine at around a 8:30-9:00 mile pace. So, what takes them 1:40 takes me THREE HOURS.

Ok, somebody call me a WAAAAHMbulance! :)

I got a call from Dylan’s Mom about doing her Senior Portraits, and I went through my normal Q&A trying to get a feel for how this would go. The feeling I got from the conversation was that Ms Dylan is an athelete that kind of marches to the beat of her own drummer.

Perfect for me. I can completely identify with that.

So, I met the family on the beach for the shoot, and these are some of the shots I like. I took alot of shots, don’t get me wrong, and there were plenty of the traditional looking images to choose from. But, I just let Dylan by Dylan, and this is what I saw.

She’s got a very broad and striking smile, but that smile takes away from a pair of very expressive eyes. So, I tried to catch the looks in between the smiles because in showing her the progress of the shoot, she liked herself better without it.

This is from the 1st sequence of 3 wardrobe changes. I shot this one in the dunes.

Here’s that smile! A more traditional look.

This is a crop from a full face image similar to the 1st in this series, but I played with it till I liked the crop and added some techniques to it.

Not bad for a hour or so on the beach! Even caught Dylan’s Mom and Dad having a moment alone.

I know, sneaky! ;)
